There are countless things that owners can do to add value to their properties. An upgraded kitchen, remodeled bathroom, or finished basement can make thousands of dollars of difference in a home's value and how well it stands out among other listings on the market.

Unfortunately, there are a few minor things that can actually lower the value of your home in the eyes of buyers. Zillow recently analyzed 50,000 homes across the country and discovered that color choices within a home can affect the final sale price of the home by $1,000 or more.

The study discovered that while we will never come to a universal agreement on color, there are four paint colors in particular that should be avoided in order to get the most money for your home as possible.

Find out which colors could cost you and what colors you should be reaching for instead.

Happy painting!
